From Students Who've Been Through It

TC

Thanakorn Chaisri

Bangkok · Step One

I tried two other online courses before this one and both times I hit a wall around week three and gave up. With Step One I could see exactly how many lessons were left in each section. That made it much easier to keep going, because I always knew what was coming next. Finished the ten weeks without dropping out for the first time.

Chiang Mai · Modelling Track

The code reviews on the Modelling Track were the most useful part for me. I had been writing code that worked but wasn't particularly clean, and the feedback helped me understand why structure matters when you're building something someone else might maintain. The pace of the live sessions could occasionally be a little fast, but the recordings made up for it.

The capstone project was harder than I expected, in a good way. My mentor pointed out three things in my deployment setup that I hadn't spotted — things that would have caused problems in production. I came out of the programme with a piece of work I was actually willing to show people, which wasn't something I expected when I enrolled.

Narumol Wongpan

Phuket · Step One

I'm a designer by background and had zero coding experience. Step One was recommended by a colleague who'd done it. The prerequisites page told me exactly what I needed and I had none of it — which was fine, because that's exactly who the course is for. The forum was genuinely helpful when I got stuck on the data section.

Bangkok · Modelling Track

I joined the Modelling Track after doing Step One the previous cohort. The continuity between the two courses was noticeable — concepts came back with more depth rather than being explained from scratch. I'd have appreciated a slightly longer section on evaluation metrics, but the project feedback more than covered the gaps.

Bangkok · Advanced Systems

Twenty-two weeks is a long time, but it's also appropriate for what the programme covers. The mentorship was the part that made the biggest difference — having someone review my architecture decisions rather than just my code. The portfolio review at the end was honest and useful. I made two rounds of changes before it was done.

Case Study 01 — Starter to Intermediate

From Admin Work to ML Projects in 25 Weeks

Challenge

A Bangkok-based office administrator wanted to move into data roles but had no coding background and had failed to get past week two of two different self-paced courses.

Approach

Enrolled in Step One, completed the forum-supported starter programme over 11 weeks. Moved straight into the Modelling Track the following cohort, using the same Python foundation.

Result

Completed both programmes within 25 weeks. Submitted a classification project as a portfolio piece and moved into a junior data analyst role within two months of completing Stage 2.

"The numbered milestones made the difference. I always knew exactly what was left."

Case Study 02 — Advanced Track

Building a Deployed NLP Tool During the Advanced Programme

Challenge

A software developer with Python experience wanted to move into NLP but found self-study too fragmented. He had tried building a text classifier independently and run into deployment problems he couldn't resolve alone.

Approach

Enrolled directly in the Advanced Systems Programme after an entry assessment. Chose the NLP specialisation track, used the capstone to build and deploy the text classifier he'd been stuck on.

Result

Completed the 22-week programme with a working, containerised NLP service. Mentor review identified two infrastructure improvements that were incorporated before the final submission.

"My mentor spotted issues in my deployment setup that I never would have caught on my own."
